Se Magnifique!

“It really is like being in France isn’t it?” mused Steve Coogan, at ShoWest to promote his Sundance Film Festival fave Hamlet 2. The comedian recounted eating a cheeseburger in his hotel room at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and realizing there was only one thing to say about it all: “Se magnifique!”
Warming up the crowd at a luncheon “Celebrating the Importance of Independent and Specialty Film in Today’s Marketplace,” the funnyman also pretended to mistake ShoWest Visionary Award winner Robert Redford for his Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid co-star Paul Newman. “Frankly, who gives a damn about salad dressing?” Coogan cried in mock outrage.
Wrapping up his introduction of moderator Ted Mundorff, the CEO of Landmark Theatres, Coogan cracked, “I have to say: I’ve been a huge fan of Ted since I Googled him last night.” If the laughter reverberating in the auditorium was any indication, an exhibitor or two likely Googled Coogan—and Hamlet 2—after lunch.
