Steel, Twixt Gut and Bladder Interposed!!!
posted August 3, 2009 4:26 AM
And speaking as we were on Friday of actors who look cool with a sword in their hand, it dawned me over the weekend that I neglected (as did our commenters) to include the coolest guy of them all. Or at least the coolest guy with the shortest amount of screen time. An omission, obviously, that begs correction.
But first -- Steve's Movie Reviews!!!©
Funny People -- In retrospect, Little Nicky was clearly autobiographical, and Adam Sandler really IS the spawn of Satan. In any case, essentially Dark Victory with dick jokes.
The Ugly Truth -- Katherine Heigl playing a a lonely, neurotic career woman for the third time? Good thing she didn't produce this herself, or you'd have to worry about her being typecast. Oh wait -- she did. In any case, essentially The Awful Truth with dick jokes.
But I digress.
In any case, I was referring to the Arab With the Scimitar in this iconic scene...
...whose name turns out to be Terry Richards, and who seems to have had a flourishing career as a bad guy over the years, most recently in the 1997 Pierce Brosnan Bond epic Tomorrow Never Dies. So to Mr. Richards, I offer a hearty "Kudos!"; I think it's safe to say that on the basis of that one little bit of show-off swordsmanship he's a certifiable screen immortal.
Oh, and incidentally -- a coveted Box Office No-Prize© will be awarded the first reader who twigs to where I stole today's column title from.

I'd forgotten how funny that face Ford makes after shooting the guy is.

Cosmic Tumbler, I am impressed.
It is indeed Beyond the Fringe -- specifically the Shakespeare parody, titled (if memory serves) "So That's the Way You Like It."
Anyway, your coveted Box Office No-Prize is winging its way to you as we speak.

How many 33 second scenes are as memorable as this one?
