The latest Coen Brothers project is on the verge of building a very strong ensemble.

Any true film buff can't help but be excited by the recent announcement that Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Jeff Bridges may be teaming up with the Coen Brothers for True Grit, a reimagining of the 1969 Western that starred John Wayne.

Damon and Brolin are in discussions, while Bridges is formally attached.

If the deal pans out, it'll be interesting to see how Damon fares in the Coen Universe. To me, it seems like a natural fit. Damon's performance as Mark Whitacre in The Informant! is exactly the kind of bumbling crook you'd expect to find in a Coen Brothers film. Mr. Jason Bourne is at the peak of his game right now, so I'm sure he'll be able to dive right into some oddball material with the right kind of moxie.

As for Brolin and Bridges, we all know that they are more than comfortable in Coen World. Brolin totally nailed his lead performance in No Country for Old Men, but he was overshadowed by the juggernaut that is Javier Bardem's Anton Chigurh. As for Bridges, he was able to create one of the most iconic slackers in the history of film in The Big Lebowski.

This is definitely a project worth following.
