Regal acquires Consolidated Theatres
The largest theatre circuit in the world just got a bit bigger. The Regal Entertainment Group, which was ranked at number one in the recently released "2008 Giants of Exhibition" in Boxoffice®, February 2008, is set to acquire the cinema chain that came in at number 11: Consolidated Theatres.
The deal will add approximately 400 more screens to the more than 6,300 that Regal already operates, and bring its total locations up to 554.
“We expect the acquisition of Consolidated Theatres to be accretive to cashflows and earnings and are pleased to announce an agreement to purchase these high quality assets,” says Regal Chairman & CEO Mike Campbell. “We look forward to a successful closing and integration of the Consolidated Theatres assets during the first half of 2008.”
