MORRISTOWN, NJ -- Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. (NASDAQ: CIDM) (formerly AccessIT) today announced that it will bring the FedEx BCS National Championship Game between the University of Florida and the University of Oklahoma on Thursday, January 8 live, in 3D to the Mann Chinese Six and the Krikorian Monrovia Cinema 12 in Los Angeles, California, as well as to the 80 theatres announced on December 16. The addition of these locations to Cinedigm's proprietary CineLive(TM) satellite network -- the only system with a national footprint that can distribute live 3D cinema transmissions -- will expand the network into the urban L.A. Metro area. Both of these theatres will also show the NBA All-Star Saturday Night events that Cinedigm announced would be shown through its CineLive network on Saturday, February 14. Some of the 80-plus theatres which will show the BCS Game are already reporting ticket sell-outs.
"The movie-going experience of the future has arrived," said George Krikorian, president and CEO of Krikorian Premiere Theatres. "We believe that the future movie-going experiences will far exceed our greatest expectations. These 3D presentations represent a pivotal transitional moment in film exhibition history. Live 3D Broadcast of prominent sporting events will be far more compelling and appealing to the public than live attendance at those events. We are proud and excited to participate in this historic presentation."
"We are extremely excited to be added to the Cinedigm CineLive(TM) network, and to be able to show the upcoming BCS Tournament and NBA All-Star Saturday Night in Live 3D," said Peter Dobson, CEO of Mann Theatres. "Cinedigm is truly the leader in digital cinema and we are pleased to be working with them."
"We are thrilled to be able to offer fans in the Los Angeles metro area the opportunity to see these first of their kind events," said Bud Mayo, Chairman and CEO of Cinedigm. "L.A. is the heart of the entertainment industry, and providing cutting edge opportunities to its sports fans and entertainment professionals is only fitting. We look forward to what we know will be an enthusiastic reception for this exciting and new form of entertainment and to adding more world class locations to our network in the U.S. and Canada."
