UPDATED (11:09 a.m. PT, Friday): According to Variety, Star Trek has already grossed $7 million since getting an early jump on the weekend thanks to showings that began at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

HISTORICAL TREK DATA:

At this point, most industry prognosticators are predicting that Paramount's new Star Trek film will land in the $65-$75 million range, while some are saying that if all goes well it could even cross the $80 million mark. Considering that 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis made only $43 million during its entire domestic run, its safe to say that the franchise reboot will eventually be labeled as a success for the established sci-fi property.

The series has certainly come a long way since William Shatner belted "KHAN!" at the top of his lungs, and BOXOFFICE decided to take a look at how all of the films have performed financially while also adjusting for inflation.
