Weekly Anticipation Index
posted September 19, 2009 9:35 AM

This week, we've added 2012 to the Anticipation Index. Director Roland Emmerich's latest destruction extravaganza is set to open on November 13.
While 2012 certainly feels like the kind of movie that would open during the summer, it should have no problem finding an audience during the fall movie season. A movie full of action should play as a perfect alternative to all the somber Oscar contenders that will begin rolling out at the same time.
By now, audiences know exactly what to expect from Emmerich—mass destruction—and the theatrical trailer for 2012 has that in spades. While the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, the real star will be the special effects and the action sequences.
Emmerich is certainly in need of a hit considering that last year 10,000 B.C. delivered the director's weakest box office figures since he made Stargate back in 1994. Still, 10,000 B.C.'s domestic haul of $94.8 million would be considered a huge success for most directors.
Check out our prediction for 2012 as well as other upcoming releases in the table below.
