Even chairs are a special endeavor at ShowEast
For 100 years, the Irwin Seating Company has been designing chairs for auditoriums, places of worship, classrooms, movie theaters, and beyond. This year at ShowEast, Irwin brought along samples of some of their most successful seating.
Irwin representative Paul Winter commented that versatility is part of the staple that's kept business thriving. Irwin offers personalization on their seats, including logos and emblems that can be crafted straight into the leather, demonstrated at the convention by a pair of yellow chairs emblazoned with stars.
Also present were posh, leather recliners that look as though they would be at home in an upscale living room. Seats like these grace VIP areas in theaters nationwide, and in the exceptional cases, house an entire theater, such as the famous Grumman’s Chinese Theater.
Winter commented on the recreation of antique seating for theaters that wish to keep their vintage aesthetic, but also want to provide new and comfortable seating for their guests. On display was a pair of red velvet opera seats with delicate, gold patterns winding up the outer arm-rests. Irwin offers precise replication of original seating design, popular in landmark-style theaters and performance halls.
When Irwin created the theater stadium seating system with the AMC theaters, a new standard was born. From measuring the backs of seats to create the perfect viewing experience in the stadium, to design, color, and comfort level, the seats Irwin as been turning out for a century continue to change and improve.
