On the second day of the 2008 Geneva Convention, Boxoffice magazine held its Alternative Content/Digital 3D panel which was followed by a drawing for a 56-inch flat screen Samsung television, compliments of Texas Instruments/DLP.

Those in attendance were treated to six presentations from noted industry professionals who provided an in-depth look at the exciting opportunities and challenges that the exhibition industry will face as it moves toward presenting more alternative content and digital 3D movies.

Darryl Schaffer of Screenvision showed some video of "Mets at the Movies", which was an event that allowed New York Mets fans to enjoy a baseball game from the comforts of a theatre. The footage showed how interactive alternative content can be.

During his presentation, Jeff McNall from Dolby 3D made a great point about how this industry repeats itself. McNall recalled how House of Wax was released in 3D in 1953 in order to get people back into theatres after television came along. Today, 3D is emerging once again in order to help movies compete with a much more diverse group of media options.
