'Quantum' leap for Bond pic

The box office can puts its stock in Bond. The latest 007 thriller, Quantum of Solace had a huge weekend, earning $67.5 million to take first easily.
Solace earned about as much as the No. 2 through No. 10 films combined. It was the only newcomer in the top 10.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa was second, earning $35 million and passing the $100 million mark in only its second week.
Role Models took third, but was well back of the top two films. Fourth was High School Musical 3: Senior Year, which rebounded after falling back to as low as eighth last week.
Changeling took fifth, followed by Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
Soul Men, which hasn't really taken off, finished seventh. The Secret Life of Bees was eighth and Saw V, continuing to fall, was ninth. Beverly Hills Chihuahua kept up its dogged pursuit of the top 10, ending up 10th.
Slumdog Millionaire had a great weekend, earning $360,018 in just 10 screens. It's primed to be an indie hit, and there's been quite a bit of buzz about it.
