'Proposal' Headed for #1 Spot

posted June 20, 2009 7:06 AM

According to BOXOFFICE.com's Early Weekend Estimates, The Proposal is going to be the movie that stops the The Hangover's two-week run at #1. Proposal should grab around $33.5 million when all is said and done this weekend, and that will represent the strongest debut of Sandra Bullock's career.

The Hangover is going to land in second place with $26.5 million, which represents a very healthy 19% drop from last weekend. The $200 million mark is definitely looking like a strong possibility for the Warner Bros. release.

After being widely panned by critics, Year One is going to land in third place with around $21.5 million. However, negative word of mouth could catch up with the film and slow it down on Saturday and Sunday.

UP is also going strong after crossing the $200 million mark this past weekend. The Disney/Pixar release will drop around 32% during its fourth weekend of release thanks to glowing word of mouth.
