The 25-minute short film "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!" first introduced A.A. Milne's stories to animation and Winnie fans in 1974. Over the last few years, each of the central players in the many installments of the Winnie series (mostly direct to video) have struck out on their own in starring vehicles. In 2000's "The Tigger Movie,” Tigger was given the opportunity to shine as he never has before, though his bounce isn't what it once was. Now Piglet steps from beneath the shadow of the bear in "Piglet's Big Movie." The film explores the isolation a Piglet feels when he is shunned by the Pooh society because he is too small. In the vein of DeSicca's "Umberto D," "Piglet's Big Movie" is a devastating retort. Feeling alone and friendless, Piglet retreats into the bowels of the 100 Acre Wood. Believing that Piglet has run away--or worse--Rabbit (voiced by Ken Sansom), Eeyore (Peter Cullen), Tigger and Winnie (both voiced by Jim Cummings) use a book of memories to trace their history with the little pig in a series of flashbacks, from their first encounters with Kanga (Kath Soucie) and Roo (Nikita Hopkins) to their North Pole expedition with Christopher Robin (Tom Wheatley).

It's a cute film that continues the tradition of the Winnie the Pooh series with simple stories and simple animation. Very young children will enjoy the characters and the numerous songs, including the famous "Winnie the Pooh," performed by Carly Simon with Ben Taylor.
