Any critic that uses phrases like "just turn off your brain and enjoy it" should be canned immediately. Films can be mainstream and commercial and still engage one's mind. If a person has to turn their brain off to enjoy a film that is a sign that the film is a worthless piece of sh*t. The first Transformers was the worst film of its year -- a soul-less, brainless, entirely overlong, loud, excruciatingly boring and brain-numbing, artless behemoth with atrocious dialogue, highly unfunny "jokes", and fantastic special effects ruined by horrible framing and editing. Michael Bay is a hack. Spielberg is proof that a director can mostly make mainstream films and still be a great director.

you cant measure someone elses enjoyment of something. i enjoyed transformers just about as much as i possibly could have, and i didnt have to "shut off my brain". its actually pretty out there sci fi if you think about it. plus it most definately IS art. you think creating those robots is easy? or compositing those shots to look so clean and fresh! bay is amazing and he puts so much into each film they definately arent "soulless". it makes me sad that people refuse to enjoy things like this.

Who cares if Michael Bay doesn't load his movies full of meaning and messages? Who cares if he doesn't use the same old boring camera angles as other directors? Who cares if he doesn't follow the typical layout? He delivers pure action entertainment to a world that is starting to take everything way too seriously and for me this film was 140 minutes damn well spent!

On Transformers2 just like on Transformers there is character development, characters have a soul, there is a plot, everything is explained.. but Michael Bay style it's fast, quick and needs people to stay focused. His movies are always full of so many visual and audio details that obviously poor critics brain can't manage to compute in their brains... and so they are claiming that the movie is confusing.. no, you critics are confused and should be checked by a doctor. The magic of the TRANSFORMERS films is that it takes a stupid (beloved, but stupid) old cartoon and exaggerates everything about it that was good into greatness.

Although I, like many film lovers, long for truly intelligent scripting and casting in the fantasy/sci-fi genre, it rarely happens. Luckily, those of us who cut our teeth on Buck Rogers, or Star Trek, or Godzilla, etc. realize that profound enjoyment CAN still be had from stuff that is not complex.

If you really enter the "TRANSFORMERS" theater with your sophistication dial set to "KITE RUNNER", when you KNOW it's a film about giant alien robots that transform into mac trucks and fight each other, and you KNOW it's based on the love of an 80's toy-driven cartoon, then you just should be embarrassed that you have an opinion.

The world of the cinema is expansive, and includes a broad array of expressions, ideas, motivations, etc... These films are NOT meant to be thought provoking on any level (if they tried, they'd probably result in the likes of that abomination "INDEPENDENCE DAY")... These films are meant to be roller coasters, and not much more, and they succeed brilliantly and joyously.

I'm a transformer fans, love it since i was very little. the movie revenge of the fallen, was awesome, until the ending scene where optimus comes back to life and defeat the fallen, i think that scene is too quick and the fallen was pictured as megatron master, it should be stronger than megatron as we can remember from the first one optimus had a difficult time defeating megatron.
anyway, Movie 8/10, Megan Fox 10/10

saw the movie in IMAX... visuals were stunning, audio was stunning, and the story was actually interesting. i realized after a while that critics tend to be stupid when reviewing a movie... this idiot was probably paid to bring down transformers just so it wont do as well. i learned to not listen to critics, if u think it looks interesting, forget what everyone else says, just go watch it. i pretty sure most of the people who put it down before seeing the movie will actually enjoy it if they go watch it. my opinion, nothing was bad about this movie. Hot girls, nice cars, heavy weaponry, come on u know this is a guy movie u cant expect to go in there and see some twilight BS.

And he proved everybody wrong that said "he can't do a heart felt movie" when Armageddon was created, as well as Pearl Harbor.

The first movie was ok with the help of the special fx.It didn't meet up to my expectations, My favorite part was when optimus sad "MY BAD" for stepping on Sam's garden. As far as the rest...HATED IT. The movie could have been so much better. I prey Mr.BAY did this one right.

I think it's the movie critics who need to turn their brains back on and stop trashing movies that everyone else in the world enjoys. Movie critics always give praise to movies that make the least money and the reason they don't make money is because they are not entertaining...Think about disney world, a kid would rather go to Magic kingdom than Epcot...That's just the way it is.

Every flaw has been pointed out about this movie, I won't go in to any detail with them. But basically the defense I'm hearing from fans is "well it's a summer movie, you shouldn't expect a good or decent plot, just a lot of explosions for mindless entertainment." Ok, that being said I wouldn't mind all the bad things ,as much, about this movie if it wasn't two hours and forty-five ****ing minutes. It's painful to get through, you come out pissed that you actually paid money to get a headache and to waste almost 3 hours. If was an hour and half to two hours with the same flaws it would be a lot more tolerable and it would be getting a lot better reviews. The theater I was at had two people clapping when the movie finally ended, probably out of joy. The others were probably pissed that they brought there kids to a Transformers movie expecting it to be for kids. Instead they get some pussy, ass, bitch, hell, damn spewing ****child spawn of Micheal Bay.

Cmon people, what's the matter with u? I wanna see the movie becouse it has kickass video effects, a sexy megan fox and robot fights. Where else can u find it huh? Reading the above comments proved interesting enough to put up with the disrespectful language and name calling; which also proved disappointing.

My 8 year old son has enjoyed playing with toy Transformers since he was 5; I will even credit the designers of the toys with advancing his mental development. He and I have some great memories of solving the "puzzles" together, sometimes in ways that also developed his character (the patience thing), and just playing with them. So, when the movies each came out, he naturally wanted to see them.

I read and value what critics say because I want to decide on the worth of a movie before I see it (Is it a good story well told? fx aside); I have often found even the movie recommendations made by my friends to misrepresent my value system. That being said, I was bummed to read from several sources that Revenge of the Fallen contains much that is not helpful for an 8 year old boy of any value system. So, I will explain to him that those who made the movie took it in a direction unsuitable for our family and we will not see it (the challenge of monitoring DVD viewing in friends's homes is another matter).

Personal values and preferences aside, I encourage those of you who comment on other's comments to avoid name-calling and vulgarities, it proves things other than what you intend (though I am sure I have now made myself such a target). It is not a matter of intelligence...it is a matter of values, and at times widsom...and how we choose to interact with each other reveals what we value, at many levels. May the grace of God help you understand what I mean to say, and may something better come of it for someone.

I look for more. After growing up around the G1 storyline, names and look I find it hard to accept the way Bay is creating the characters. The oportunities he had with Devestators character. It was like a robotic King Kong. The transfornation footage was really bad. It would have been better if we had an introduction of the individual robots first. The design of this character also made for a ****y toy.

If you didnt like this movie you are stupid... Its Transformers not No Country for old men. If any of you ever watched the cartoon you would realize that the movie is way better. Robots look super real and enjoyed the comedy. Half of you dont know anything about films and film making!

I find it funny that the majority(NOT all) of the reviews here aren't really even reviews.

That said, if you have watched the first movie as well as the second movie you can acknowledge that the writers are trying to advance this particular universe and make it original. It's not like any other sci-fi genre out there. These are aliens that transform into the car or truck that you drive to work! These aliens are also millennia old and have been capable of space travel of a long time so I think it's safe to say that their abilities should be a bit far-fetched to us.

Now the writing for the first movie was excellent, a fantastic blend of humour, action, and character development. TF2 built on that, adding new characters, developing old ones and yes there was a bit more toilet humour but I thought it was well placed.
The action sequences were, well, the best damn action sequences I have seen in a long time. The hero is the centre of attention as well he should be and while there were a couple plot twists that cut his screen time short I could have watched Prime battle the decepticons for another hour. The action was that good.

Yes there were plot holes. I'm sure people are drooling to point them out. All the construction vehicles make it hard to keep track, where did the blue car(Jolt) go on several occasions, etc etc...

This was a great action, sci-fi movie.
Now...
The thing that I cannot believe is how EVERYONE has ignored the US military presence in this film. I am Canadian and I wanted to join the US Army at a couple points during the film. The teamwork, the excitement, the technology!!! Yes this movie could be considered a car commercial or a bunch of giant aliens stomping around but it is also a 150 minute recruitment ad!!
Take pride in your country's military! Do not forget what a huge role they played in the movie!!!

This movie gets a 9 out of 10 from me... only because Dark Knight is a 10 and you really can't rate anything above Dark Knight.

An awesome movie to see. They were very creative in the new characters they had added. Optimus prime has shown that when he leads a team. He really leads a team. No one in the cartoon franchise has surpassed his ability to carry a legacy as he can. Everyone who grew up watching transformers knows Optimus Prime is a true fictional hero that we can all look up to. He is wise, brave, got soul, courage, and all time great leader. If you even mention his name kids and adults can recognize that he is Transformers. When you watch this movie you'll see what I mean.

I saw this movie with about 15 of my friends and every single one of us LOVED it. 15/15. Dont get me wrong there were ALOT of flaws but thats not the point. It was a fun full movie of action and comedy. Action and comedy thats what i was expected when going into the theatre and thats what i got.

This film was horrible. Why does Hollywood keep pitching toys to kids for movies they shouldn't or can't see (Terminator Salvation I'm lookin' at you). I don't remember humping dogs, overly potty mouthed robots, or Devestator having Balls from my childhood..... Other than the scene of Optimus fighting in the woods I found virtually no redeeming quality to this movie. Apparently it takes seconds to revive Megatron, but a whole movie to do the same to others. Apparently robots need a cane and grow beards as they grow old. Speaking of which being a 40 year old jet makes you ancient in the Transformers universe. I could go on for days about how bad this film was, but it just makes me more and more sad that there will probably be another one. Maybe next time we can see to robots have sex.....yeah that would be cool.
