Queen Latifah and Common will headline Fox Searchlight’s Just Wright, a romantic comedy to be directed by Sanaa Hamri. The film follows a professional basketball player (Common) and his budding relationship with his personal trainer (Latifah), who helps rehabilitate him from a career-ending injury.
Latifah starred in a trio of 2008 films—The Secret Life of Bees, Mad Money and What Happens in Vegas—while Common, the Grammy-winning rapper, has landed roles in several high-grossing action films over the past two years. He recently appeared in Terminator Salvation, which has so far totaled $115 million domestically.
Wright will likely be next decade’s equivalent to Love & Basketball, a love story about two professional basketball players which raked in $27.4 million in 2000—around $40 million when adjusted for inflation.
