Cher and Christina Aguilera are joining forces for Burlesque, a contemporary musical.

Cher, who won an Academy Award for Moonstruck, last had a major film role in 1999's Tea with Mussolini. Mussolini was an arthouse hit which grossed $14.4 million—$20.4 million when adjusted. Cher also had a tongue-in-cheek cameo in Stuck on You from The Farrelly Brothers.
The film could represent a change of pace for Aguilera, who has yet to have a significant film role. The young singer is slated to play herself in the comedy Get Him to the Greek opposite Jonah Hill and Russell Brand.
Two major movie musicals will be released this year: a remake of Fame and director Rob Marshall's take on Nine.
