Upstart distribution company Phase 4 Films has acquired rights to The Poker House, Lori Petty’s directorial debut.
The film stars Selma Blair (Hellboy), comedian David Alan Greer (Bewitched) and newcomer Jennifer Lawrence as Agnes, a teenage girl forced to mother her younger siblings while her own parents solicit their home for gambling, drugs and sex. Lawrence won the Outstanding Performance Award at the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival for her portrayal of the character.
Poker House, booked for limited theatrical release on July 17 in the U.S., was co-written by Petty and Greer, who starred together in the 1994 comedy In the Army Now.
