Rainn Wilson will star alongside Liv Tyler and Ellen Page in Super, a superhero comedy written by James Gunn. Production on the film begins in December.
Gunn, who also penned Dawn of the Dead, is set to direct the movie, in which Wilson depicts an average joe who develops a superhero alter ego, the Crimson Belt, after his wife becomes involved with a drug dealer. Tyler will play Wilson's wife, while Page takes on the role of his sidekick.
After landing some scene-stealing supporting roles in the likes Juno as well as gaining popularity on NBC's The Office, Wilson took a stab at leading man territory with The Rocker last year. Unfortunately, audiences didn't immediately respond and the film grossed only $2.6 million domestically. Wilson will try to reverse that negative response with Super.
As for Page, she snagged a prime role in Christopher Nolan's Inception, which is due out next year. Meanwhile, Tyler is considering a role in The Strangers 2.
