The already star-studded cast of The Conspirator, which includes James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn, has added another: Justin Long. The film, which will be directed by Robert Redford, is one among many in development to focus on Abraham Lincoln, including Steven Spielberg's long-awaited Lincoln. The Conspirator will begin filming later this month in Georgia.

This is an interesting turn for the usually comedy-centric Long, but 2009 has shown Long's box office draw, with roles in the successful Drag Me to Hell and He's Just Not the Into You. Whether or not he can hold up in a period drama, as McAvoy and Wright Penn have proven to be able to do, remains to be seen.
This year continues to be a big one for Long, as he will also star alongside Robin Williams and John Travolta in Old Dogs.
