Director James Cameron has announced that a new three and a half minute trailer for his upcoming 3D action/adventure Avatar will be playing in theaters starting on Friday.
Earlier this year, Avatar studio 20th Century Fox held a free "Avatar Day" where fans could trek out to IMAX theaters and watch a 16-minute chunk of footage in full 3D as its own feature presentation. This new trailer, on the other hand, will play more like a regular trailer, in front of general-release films.
The spot won't be available online until a week later, on October 29. The film, which marks Cameron's first fictional feature film since Titanic 12 years ago, stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Giovanni Ribisi and Michelle Rodriguez, and will open in both conventional theaters and IMAX 3D screens on December 18th.
