Hot on the heels of Scream 4, The Weinstein Company may be looking to reboot their Scary Movie parody franchise.

Created by the Wayans Brothers in 2000 and starring Anna Faris, the series started out as a direct jab at Scream and other horror films, but eventually ended up poking fun at various then-current films like Charlie's Angels and The Matrix Reloaded. Airplane! director David Zucker took over the franchise with Scary Movie 3. It's unclear what a reboot entails other than replacing Faris; in previous films in the series, continuity (including character deaths) were often ignored or reset with each progressive film.

Scary Movie 4 opened on April 16, 2006 and went on to gross $90.7 million domestically. There is no word on when a fifth film or a reboot would open, but it would likely be close to the release of Scream 4.
