Actor Dylan Baker, who played Professor Curt Connors in Spider-Man 2 and 3, revealed at a screening of Trick 'r Treat that he will be returning in Spider-Man 4.
The actor told the audience he had just received his first phone call about appearing in the highly-anticipated sequel that very day. Trick 'r Treat director Michael Dougherty then joked that Baker would just be "appearing in the background", to which Baker agreed. There's little doubt he's just joking, but it's still not clear if his role would include Connors turning into The Lizard, the supervillain alter-ego of the character in the comics.
Recently, popular character actor Bruce Campbell (director Sam Raimi's friend and a bit player in all three films) claimed he had "a big part" in Spider-Man 4, which fans suggested might mean he would be playing Mysterio, another long-rumored villain. However, Raimi laughed at the comment in an interview, stating "I don't even know who he'll play yet. [But] I promised him he'll have a big meaty role." Spider-Man 4 is slated to open on May 5, 2011.
