The formerly in-limbo sequel to 2007's Stomp the Yard has found its helmer in writer-director Rob Hardy. The sequel, currently titled Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming, should star Columbus Short, the star of the original film, who is in negotiations to reprise his role.

Seeing as how Hardy was executive producer on the first Stomp the Yard installment, its Rainforest Films producers must be looking for a repeat of the last film's performance. STY almost doubled its low budget in the opening weekend, soon to rake in $74 million worldwide. Hardy is still a bit wet behind the ears—he's mainly worked as producer on Rainforest productions, and writing-directing only a few small indies and episodes of ER and Criminal Minds.
Hardy and Rainforest Films' to-do list also includes Act Like a Lady Think Like a Man and The Black Phantom, for which Hardy will serve as executive producer.
