Steve Carell is reportedly considering taking on the lead role in Missing Links, a golf comedy based on a novel by ESPN's Rick Reilly. Warner Bros. is shepherding the project.

Hopefully Missing Links will fare better than Leatherheads, which Reilly co-wrote the screenplay for. Despite starring George Clooney and Renée Zellweger, the film was only able to gross slightly more than $31 million domestically.
Early next year, Carell will be seen opposite Tina Fey and an impressive supporting cast in Date Night, a 20th Century Fox release that is sure to be a comedic juggernaut.
