Appearing on BBC Radio recently, actress Amanda Seyfried spoke about the possibility of a sequel to her blockbuster film adaptation of the stage musical Mamma Mia!.
She said, "I've been talking to some insiders and it's not something that they haven't been working on. I don't actually know anything other than that." When pressed for more details, such as whether the sequel would include more Abba tunes, she replied, "I know it's still going to be Abba music, because what else would it be? Come on, I wouldn't do Mamma Mia 2 without Benny and Bjorn." The sequel would likely focus on Seyfried's character Sophie and her husband Sky, played by Seyfried's real-life boyfriend Dominic Cooper.
The first Mamma Mia! opened as counterprogramming to the superhero behemoth The Dark Knight and successfully scored a massive $144.1 million in the US, and racked up another $465.7 million in the rest of the world.
