James Marsh, the director of the Oscar-winning documentary Man on Wire, has agreed to direct a feature-length supernatural thriller entitled The Vatican Tapes.

Tapes, a Lionsgate and Lakeshore film, focuses on events that occur after a tape showing an exorcism gone wrong gets leaked from the Vatican.
Marsh previously tried his hand at feature films with 2005's The King, starring Gael Garcia Bernal, but it was Wire that put him on the map. Wire told the story of tightrope walker Philippe Petit and his walk between New York's Twin Towers.
Most recently, Marsh directed Red Riding: 1980 for IFC Films. He is also set to direct the 2010 documentary Dream Diaries.
