Paul Thomas Anderson is currently writing a new project titled The Master that Philip Seymour Hoffman is attached to star in. The film will focus on a man who starts a faith-based religion in the 1950s. Master is tentatively set up at Universal.

This won't be the first time that Anderson and Hoffman have collaborated. The Oscar-winning thesp has had supporting roles in all of Anderson's films except for There Will Be Blood.
Anderson approached religion with much skepticism in There Will Be Blood, and the film earned him Oscar nominations for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay as well as a Best Picture nomination. Daniel Day Lewis ended up winning Best Actor for his electrifying performance.
Hoffman recently earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work as a priest in the film adaptation of Doubt.
